Method to Migrate Outlook 15 to Windows Outlook is No More Intricate

Outlook is becoming more and more popular not only because of the brand name associated with it but also because of the features that it offers such as emails, tasks, notes, calendar and many more.  Though Outlook for Mac is much in demand but when compared with Outlook for Windows it lags behind owing to lack of certain features in Outlook for Mac. People are more concerned with getting their work done; hence many are ready to migrate outlook 15 to Windows Outlook.

Steps Involved in migration

Outlook for 2011 was designed by Microsoft to fill the features gap that existed in Apple mail. Outlook Mail 2011 mails to multiple formats and hence Mac people are really happy and satisfied with it. The only problem is that Outlook for Windows accesses only PST files whereas Outlook for Mac manages mailbox data in OLM file. People using Outlook for Mac have an advantage in this regard as PST files are compatible with Outlook for Windows but OLM files cannot be used in Outlook running on windows. Hence if you wish to migrate outlook 15 to Windows Outlook, than firstly you need to export Outlook for Mac mailbox data into an OLM file followed by the conversion of OLM files to PST files.

How to migrate from Outlook 15 to Windows Outlook

Firstly for exporting Outlook for Mac mailbox to OLM file, you need to follow few simple steps:

·         After launching Outlook for Mac 2011, select the export option under File menu.

·         When you click on the export option, an Export Wizard dialog box will appear, where you need to select the Outlook for Mac data file(.olm) option and also items of following types:

·         Select the items that you want to export like your mails, your contacts and proceed to the next page by clicking on the Next button

·         If you want to keep the original files intact in your device even after migration, then select the option which states “No, do not delete items” and proceed further

·         Now just give a filename and select where you want your OLM files to be saved and then select the Save option

Now as your OLM files are exported, begin with converting those OLM files to PST format by following simple steps:

·         Select the option Open & Export under File menu after launching Microsoft Outlook 2013

·         An Import and Export Wizard dialog box will appear, select import from another program

·         Select Outlook Data File(.pst) and by clicking on Next option, Browse and select the PST file, make sure to select “Replace duplicates with Items Imported” option and then proceed

·         Make sure to check the Include subfolders check box at the top of Outlook Data File, then select Import items into the same folder and click on Finish button.
